FC Barcelona vs Manchester City - Champions League 2016-17
Barcelona team suffered a shock loss at Celta Vigo in La Liga BBVA, but the
Blaugrana promptly back to winning ways having hammered 4-0 Deportivo La
Coruna at the weekend. In Champions League, the Catalan outfit have won
both of their games thus far, following up a 7-0 hammering of Celtic
with a 1-2 win at Borussia M'Gladbach. As to the direct matches with
Man City, Barça have won all their four Champions League meetings
so far.
Barça lined up in a 3-4-3 formation on Saturday,
but they are expected to revert to a 4-3-3 formation against the
Citizens. Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen is ruled out but Luis Enrique
confirmed that Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto are fully fit, and the duo
is expected to start as full back. The likes of Neymar, Leo Messi and
Luis Suarez, of course, will lead the line.
Manchester City team made an impressive start to life under Guardiola by
winning their first 10 fixtures in all competitions. Anyway, the 3-3
draw with Celtic Glasgow on Matchday 2 of the UCL was the
start of a dip in form that has seen them go three games without a
victory. Prior to that, Guardiola's men recorded a 4-0 win over Borussia
M'Gladbach. As to the Premier League, they still top the table with 19
points after 8 matchweeks, but Arsenal are level on points and Tottenham
just one point behind them.
Sergio Aguero is set to start having featured from the bench against Everton, replacing the youngster Kelechi Ineahacho. Bacary Sagna is Pep Guardiola's only main injury concern and Pablo Zabaleta is expected to deputize in his absence. Vincent Kompany will have to wait a couple of weeks before to return in the squad.
